T he nights are getting darker, your summer wardrobe has been packed away and the Cadburys Roses tins are on display in the supermarkets. It can only mean one thing – Christmas is on its way!
Don’t get me wrong, I love Christmas (probably more than I love a pudding) but we are now on the 3 month countdown to the most indulging time of the year. The cold weather and dark nights alone make me want to eat my own body weight in all things stodgy. Not to mention all the extra food treats in the shops and the increase in social activities that are cropping up. This year let’s ‘control the indulge’ and give ourselves a head start on the rush to get fit in January.
12 weeks ’til Christmas Challenge
Stage 1- Take a photo of yourself today and then again in 12 weeks. It’s as simple as that…
Take a photo of yourself (preferably in your underwear or swimwear) from the front, back and side. No one has to see these (unless someone is taking them for you) and you don’t have to post them to join in with the challenge. Take the photos, save them and don’t look at them again until I tell you to. (A big thank you to my lovely volunteer for letting me post her ‘Pre Challenge’ photos)
I don’t know about you, but if I’ve ever tried ‘a diet’ it would normally start on a Monday and end by the Thursday. This challenge will be about making small changes to everyday eating and exercise which, if you stick to, will make a big difference in 12 weeks time when you take the ‘post challenge’ pictures. We are aiming to notice a significant difference in our body shape from our pre and post photos.
Photos are a great way to monitor any physical changes, as it is sometimes difficult to notice the effects of your hard work when looking in the mirror on a daily basis. A pre and post photo can then go side by side and a visual comparison can be made.
After taking that photo you then need to make a commitment. A commitment to yourself, ‘I am going to do this’. Tell your friends, family and work colleagues that you are taking part in The 12CC so you’ve got people supporting you along the way (and you never know they may even join in with you).
The first battle you will face is saying NO! Whether it be to a friend offering you a ‘top up’, a colleague giving you another biscuit, ‘go on, one more won’t hurt’, or to yourself as you are walking down the confectionary aisle at the supermarket. Strong will power and self control are vital if you want to achieve what you’ve set out to do.
And hey, what a great reward in 12 weeks time – A scrumptious Christmas dinner followed by pudding!
Get snapping and be sure to comment below if you are taking on The 12CC.
